Hey Head for Life - How'd you get into the GD? Friend, relative? How long have you been digging the live stuff?

There has been alot of talk about youngs heads here lately. I think people want to know if kids who never saw the Dead can embrace this music. Did your parents listen to GD or other bands?

Just curious.

Actually, my dad was a huge dead head, went to a lot of concerts. He owns a company himself, and actually his logo is a dancing bear holding a tool box, hes a handyman.

I got into the GD through my old man also (plus some uncles and an aunt), and I am on the young side for 'heads (26 almost 27). I'm glad you're into it, because it's one of the best things to get into and will probably bring you happiness forever. My question for you is which 10 live DVDs do you have, because i thought I had them all, but I only have 7.

Seeing the band live cemented the deal for us older heads,
they still have Phil & Friends, Ratdog and many other Deadtype Jam Bands to get that live vibe and more of the "original scene" ie -the smaller intimate venues.
Now the best way to hear "old" GD is at full concert level, and/or like when Digital Dave has his excellent audio setup at the Ashkenaz Dance Club in Berkeley. www.ashkenaz.com

Young folk who are exposed to the Dead have the tremendous opportunity offered by the Web and sites like this, which weren't available before recently. Remember when hunting down a tape trade was a major effort and event? Today the Dead phenomenon is categorized and available at a keystroke. I've been exposed to more Dead in the last year than all the years they performed, and I'm a moldy oldy.
